Ugly. That game was ugly. But it was a win, and the Bulldogs move to 3-0.

  • Chad Bumphis had 3 touchdown receptions and tied the all-time MSU record (Eric Moulds, Justin Jenkins) with 17 for his career. Bump had 6 catches for 184 yards in this game - a career best.
  • Tyler Russell was 11 of 26 for 248 yards, 3 touchdowns and 0 INT. But, to be fair, there were at least five dropped passes....like, right on the money, it hit both hands, dropped passes.
  • LaDarius Perkins had a great game with 170 yards rushing on 23 carries.
  • MSU's defense gave up 572 yards on the night. They did force four turnovers including two interceptions from Darius Slay.
  • Troy's QB, Robinson, had 342 yards passing but no touchdowns.
  • Troy ran 87 plays, MSU ran 61.
It wasn't pretty and it got a little scary in the 4th quarter but State got it done in the end. Kentucky lost to a Sun Belt team tonight (Western Kentucky), Arkansas lost to one last week and Auburn had to go to overtime to win their game vs. the Sun Belt...and they were all at home. MSU didn't lose - so that's the good news. 3-0...first time since 1999.
