The Mississippi State Bulldogs picked up an 8-0 victory over Arkansas on Senior Day Saturday to claim their third consecutive series and wrap up an impressive week for the Maroon and White Softball squad.

Earlier in the week, Alexis Silkwood (12-5) picked up SEC pitcher of the week honors, and on Sunday, she proved why the award may be first of many in her career.  The first eight Razorback outs came via strikeouts as Silkwood went 4.2 innings and struck out nine in the contest.

She left the game with a 6-0 lead thanks to a six-run fourth inning for Mississippi State.

Caroline Seitz, who went two-for-three, picked up the Bulldogs' first hit, a single, to open the inning, and the Bulldogs used several singles and Arkansas (27-24, 5-16) errors to push six runs across the plate.

Seniors Shana Sherrod and Alison Owen finished off the complete game shutout.  Sherrod picked up the final out of the fifth inning. Owen pitched the sixth inning and picked up a strike out.

The Bulldogs (37-16, 9-12) ended the game by scoring two runs in the sixth inning to invoke the run rule. Loryn Nichols drew a two-out walk, and Jessica Offutt reached on an error that scored Nichols.  Senior Heidi Shape ended the game with a single that scored Offutt.
