Team USA takes on Belgium in a Round of 16 matchup at 3:00 CT today on a game that can be seen on ESPN. The Stars and Stripes advanced out of the "Group of Death" with four points, advancing over Portugal and Ghana.
That set up this matchup with Group H champion, Belgium, who knocked off the United States last year in a friendly.
This is only the fifth time that the United States has advanced out of the first round or group stage of the World Cup. A win would put the United States in the quarterfinals for only the third time in history. The other times came in 1930, when the USA made the semifinals and finished third, and in 2002 when the USA dropped a 1-0 decision to Germany in the South Korea/Japan hosted World Cup.
