Quick Hits: Three Thoughts on Mississippi State's Victory

The Bulldogs took care of business in Starkville Saturday against Southern Miss. Here are a few thoughts on the game.

At the end of the day, the Mississippi State Bulldogs walked away with a 49-0 victory over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. It was not always pretty,  but the end result proved to be pretty positive.

Here are a few quick thoughts:

1) The Bulldogs impressed by overcoming a sluggish start. At first, it looked like the Bulldogs had blown a few opportunities and that Southern Miss may have an opening to stay in the game. Credit to the Bulldogs for shaping up and closing that window.

2) It looks like the Bulldogs still have field goal kicking woes. How many Mississippi State fans groaned after that miss on the first attempt of the season.

3) Bear Wilson looked good. Pretty much all of the receivers did as well. Was it because of growth and improvement or the opponent. My guess is it was a little of both, but it will be fun to monitor the rest of the year.
