The Mississippi State Bulldog football team will be out of action again Saturday, as the Bulldogs picked up a 31-13 victory Thursday night over Missouri in Columbia. However, college football still brings us several quality matchups today.
In the early time slots, Kentucky at Georgia may be the game to watch as far as long term implications. Many Georgia fans are turning up the heat on Mark Richt, and a loss to Kentucky would not make things easier for the Bulldog head coach.
In the early afternoon games, all eyes will shift to Clemson as the No. 1-ranked Tigers host Florida State. The Seminoles have more often than not been the standard bearer for the ACC, but a victory by Florida State today pretty much takes the ACC out of national title consideration. If it is Big 12 action you crave, TCU at Oklahoma State should be a good one as well. Both of these teams are looking to earn respect and a shot at the playoffs. The winner will take a big step in that direction.
Of course, the game with the biggest national title implications comes on tonight as No. 2 LSU travels to No. 4 Alabama. The Crimson Tide cannot survive another loss and stay in the running for a national title. It remains to be seen if LSU could get in as a one loss SEC champion. Two teams who will be watching this game include Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Both Magnolia State schools should pull for Alabama to pick up the win, which would help the Rebels' and Bulldogs' chances of going to Atlanta.
