Mississippi State enters its contest with Alabama fresh off of a dismantling of Missouri. Alabama enters the contest after crushing LSU Saturday night. The folks making the odds must respect the Tigers from Baton Rouge more than the Tigers in Columbia because the Crimson Tide enters as a touchdown favorite over the Bulldogs for their tilt in Starkville.
On the season, Mississippi State is 6-3 against the spread while Alabama checks in at 4-5. Of course, in on the scoreboard play, Alabama stands at 8-1, and Mississippi State holds a 7-2 record.
This should be a fun line to watch as it will garner much attention this week. The Crimson Tide currently lead the SEC West, and they only need to win out to head to the SEC championship game in Atlanta where the SEC West champion will face Florida. The Bulldogs may be the biggest hurdle for Alabama to reach that game as the Iron Bowl may not be much of a contest with Auburn's struggles on the season.
Also of note could be the impact of this game on the Heisman race. Derrick Henry may have surged to the top of the voter's ballots with his performance against LSU. If the Bulldogs slow him down, and Dak Prescott has a big game, the Mississippi State quarterback might find himself in the hunt for a trip to New York.
