Jackson State introduced Mississippi State assistant coach Tony Hughes as their new head coach Monday morning. Hughes, a noted recruiter, will be in his first gig as a college head coach at the FCS program.
The Tigers have had turmoil at the position in recent years with questionable hires and a revolving door at the position. Hughes will be tasked at helping bring stability to the position.
As for Mississippi State, losing Hughes takes away one of Mississippi State's best recruiters and the team's recruiting coordinator. The Bulldogs will also have to find a replacement or shift duties as it comes to coaching safeties.
The move had been rumored for a few days, but as recently as two days ago, Hughes had denied contact with Jackson State's AD's office.
