Fox Sports Lists Mississippi State Bulldogs in a tie for Weakest Non-Conference Schedule
One of the favorite games this time of year is beating up Power Five teams about their lack of competition in non-conference games. While that will start to change for the SEC next year, Mississippi State and a few others ended up on this list of weakest non-conference games.
In fact, Mississippi State fell into a tie for the weakest non-conference schedule. What jumps out to me is that this shows the uncertainty in acheduling. When MSU signed up for a series with Southern Miss, no one really expected the Golden Eagles to fall completely apart. Troy had been a dangerous team for a while, but they have struggled mightily the past few seasons. With games being scheduled so far in advance, it is tough to predict out if the matchups will be tough.
However, I am glad to know that there will be Power Five quality opponents on the non-conference schedule going forward.
