Mississippi State’s women’s basketball team moved to 3-0 after taking down Tulane in Biloxi, Mississippi. The ninth ranked Bulldogs came away with a 66-49 victory on the coast.

The game was never close as Vic Schaefer’s squad jumped out to 36-16 lead in the first half. While the Bulldogs were outscored 33-30 in the second half, the comfortable lead allowed MSU to coast to an easy victory over Tulane.

Victoria Vivians paced the Bulldogs in points with 17 on 6-17 shooting and 2-7 from behind the arc. Vivians also snagged a pair of rebounds in her 28 minutes on the court. Breanna Richardson also scored in the double figures with 11 points on 3-8 shooting and 5-6 from the free throw line. Richardson recorded 5 rebounds tonight.

Dominique Dillingham and Chinwe Okorie grabbed 8 rebounds each to tie for the lead in rebounds. Dillingham was the leader in assists for the Bulldogs as well with 5.

Schaefer’s team has cruised to three easy victories so far to start the season, but things will start to get more difficult for the Bulldogs. When State returns to Starkville this Saturday, MSU will host the 8th ranked Texas Longhorns. Texas is currently 1-1 on the season with their loss coming to 11th ranked Stanford by a score of 59-71. However, UT bounced back from their defeat by dominating Houston Baptist University 98-46.

Mississippi State and Texas will square off this Sunday at 5:00 pm.
