Mississippi State’s volleyball team has had their fair share of struggles this season, and they’d dropped their six previous matches leading up to today. But that rough streak ended thanks to a strong surge and comeback to take down Ole Miss tonight.
Ole Miss jumped out to an early 2-0 set lead over Mississippi State and won the two sets by margins of 25-9 and 25-18. But State would go on to win the next three consecutive sets in convincing fashion. MSU took the third set by 25-18, the fourth set by 25-17, and finished the match out with a fifth set win of 15-7.
Mississippi State was lead in kills by freshman Emily Hill with 18. Hill was followed by Evie Grace Singleton with 15 and Jelena Vujcin with 12. In total, the Bulldogs had 58 kills to Ole Miss’ 47.
Mississippi State moved to 13-17 on the year and 5-11 in conference. And although State has struggled this year, they are tough to defeat at home. MSU moved to 10-5 in Newell-Grissom with tonight’s win.
The Bulldogs have matches against Arkansas and Georgia to close out the season, and both matches will be at home. State will take on Arkansas this Sunday at 3:00 and will close out the year against Georgia on Saturday, November 26th.
