After a disappointing start to the Gildan Charleston Classic where the Bulldogs were blown out by UCF, Mississippi State bounced back and beat Boise State 80-68 and UTEP 61-54.
Although Quinndary Weatherspoon struggled, the Bulldogs were able to find a way to win thanks to other contributors on the team stepping up. Weatherspoon had 9 points, 3 rebounds, and a pair of steals in today’s game.
And though Weatherspoon struggled for the first time this season, Aric Holman was able to carry the Bulldogs to victory with a career performance.
Aric Holman paced the way for the Bulldogs with 18 points, a career high, and grabbed 4 rebounds and a pair of steals before fouling out. Freshmen Tyson Carter, Lamar Peters, Mario Kegler each had big games as well.
Carter had 9 points and 6 rebounds while Peters had 13 points and 4 assists. Kegler was the leading rebounder for the Bulldogs with 8 and had 6 points.
The Bulldogs will return to Starkville and will have 4 consecutive home games starting with Lehigh this coming Friday.
