The Mississippi State Bulldogs moved up from number 6 number 5 in the AP Poll following an impressive win by Mississippi State. This marks the first time that Mississippi State has been in the top 5 of the AP rankings. Last Saturday the Bulldogs traveled to undefeated Iowa State without Dominique Dillingham and found themselves down by 17 at halftime. However MSU had an impressive comeback with back to back 3s by Morgan William and Roshunda Johnson in the final minute to send MSU into overtime. And the Bulldogs were able to pull it out to win by a final score of 85-81.
The game was a part of the SEC-Big 12 Challenge in which the SEC won 6-4.
Following Baylor’s 88-66 pounding at Tennessee and South Carolina’s shocking upset loss on the road to Duke 74-63, Mississippi State is now the lone SEC team in the top 5 in the AP Poll. This is new territory.
The Bulldogs will face Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg on Saturday in their next match up with a road trip to Arkansas Little Rock following.
