For the second time this season, Quinndary Weatherspoon picked up SEC Freshman of the Week honors in basketball, and after the first weekend of the season Jack Kruger was named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.
Kruger, who made his debut with the Bulldogs this weekend, finished a four-game stretch with nine hits, good for second in the Southeastern Conference. The nine hits allowed him to start the season with a .563 batting average. He also scored four times in two different contests, and he picked up multiple RBIs in three contests.
Weatherspoon, who had the No. 1 play on Sportscenter's Top Ten for his game winning buzzer beater against Vanderbilt, rode the momentum to a 15 point, four rebound effort against Alabama Saturday.
On the season, Weatherspoon is averaging 11.8 points and 4.6 rebounds, and he has scored in double digits in 13 of his last 16 contests.
Weatherspoon is the first Bulldog to win multiple SEC Freshman of the Week honors since Craig Sword in 2013.
