SEC Announces 2016 Baseball Tournament Bracket | Mississippi State Bulldogs No. 1 Seed

The Bulldogs are the SEC Champions and the No. 1 seed going into the SEC tournament, but the road to a tournament championship is a tough one.

The race for an SEC regular season baseball championship continued into the final at-bats of the season, and given the tight nature of the race, it should come as no surprise that SEC Champion Mississippi State will have battle through what could be a tough bracket to claim the tournament crown as well.

The Bulldogs, the No. 1 seed in the tournament because of their season championship, open up play in bracket two at 4:30pm Wednesday at the Hoover Met.  They will face the winner of eighth-seeded Kentucky and ninth-seeded Alabama, who play Tuesday at 4:30 in an elimination game.   Opposite Mississippi State in bracket two is the fourth-seed, Florida.  The Gators open up against either fifth-seeded LSU or 12th-seeded Tennessee.  The Tigers and Volunteers play Tuesday 30 minutes after the conclusion of Alabama and Kentucky.  The loser will be out of the tournament.

Should the Bulldogs win Wednesday, they will face the winner of the Florida vs. LSU/Tennessee matchup Thursday evening.  If Mississippi State drops their opener, they would face the loser of that game in what would most likely be one intense loser's bracket matchup.

Wins on Wednesday and Thursday would give the Bulldogs a day of rest on Friday. If the Bulldogs win Wednesday, but lose Thursday, they would play either Florida, LSU, Tennessee or the team defeated by Mississippi State in their opener.
