Late Friday night, early Saturday morning, it appears that former Mississippi State receiver Chris Smith was killed in his hometown of Meridian, Mississippi. His close friends and former teammates were the ones who broke the heartbreaking news to the rest of the world.
Terrible news to wake up to. One of the best teammates I ever had. RIP Chris Smith

In Smith's career at State, he was a part of teams that won 29 games and he turned into a considerable receiving threat by his senior year, catching 47 receptions for 564 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 2012.
Not much is known about the incident that took Smith's life, but our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out for the family members, friends, and former teammates of Chris Smith.
