Over the years, the game of football has become much more friendly toward the offensive side, with a focus on the passing game. Coach Joe Moorhead wanted receivers that could be deep threats and he was able to find them in the class of 2020. Focus was placed on finding receivers to stretch the field and create plays for the Bulldogs and the coaching staff did a good job of filling those needs.
Malik Heath is a player that Mississippi State got into recruiting battles SEC foes Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina for Heath’s services. Big plays are needed for Moorhead’s offense and adding Heath was a signing day victory for the Bulldogs. Heath does an excellent job of using his size to high point the football and take it away from opposing defenders. Heath will have a chance to see some snaps once fall practices start up later in the year.
Heath has few areas that need improvement in his game, but one area that will need some work his route running. Snaps in practice will help improve the route running and Heath will become a problem for opposing SEC defenses. Mississippi State fans should expect to see Heath earn some playing time. Heath is simply too much of a big play threat to leave on the bench. The 2020 wide receiver class for the Bulldogs, has the potential to be an excellent one for the Bulldogs. Moorhead’s offense should become more consistent next season and light up the scoreboards.
