Most college coaches are always on the look out for players that are versatile and can excel playing multiple positions. Decamerion Richardson is not just a multiple position athlete he is a multisport athlete with a background in track, to go along with his football background. Richardson will bring much needed talent to a unit that was hit by the NFL draft a few weeks ago.
Cameron Dantzler was one of the better cornerbacks that I had a chance to watch tape on as the NFL draft approached, and the Bulldogs needed to recruit for the hole that Dantzler leaving for the pros created. Decamerion Richardson, has an excellent chance to come in and see the field and some SEC action when the season gets underway. Richardson will have a chance to learn the ropes from two Bulldogs that are returning this season in Jarrian Jones and Martin Emerson Jr.
Richardson having blazing speed will help the Bulldogs’ secondary prepare for a difficult SEC season that is coming. Richardson has excellent size at 6-foot-2 and will be able to use his frame to cause problems for wide receivers. The SEC lost a lot of talent as far as the receiving corps goes, but the conference never has a problem bringing in talented wide receivers and this season will not be any different.
The Mississippi State secondary has the potential to be a talented group that will cause problems for opposing quarterbacks. The Bulldogs’ offense will put up the points, but what people want to see happen is the defense be able to get off the field, and the secondary having talent and experience will help with that problem. Richardson has a good chance to develop into another solid problem that patrols the secondary for the Bulldogs and his freshman season should be a fun one.
