STARKVILLE, Miss. — Former Alabama wide receiver Tyrell Shavers, who entered the transfer portal last week, announced on Monday that he’s transferring to Mississippi State.
The 6-foot-6, 205-pound receiver joins the program as a graduate transfer and will be eligible to play immediately with two years of eligibility remaining.
Shavers played in all 13 games with the Crimson Tide last year, mainly in a special teams role. He recorded one catch for 20 yards, one rush for 14 yards as well as a blocked punt that he returned two yards for a touchdown.
Shavers, a Lewisville, Texas native, committed to Alabama as one of the elite wide receiver prospects in the 2017 class. He was a unanimous four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 12 wide receiver and the No. 11 overall recruit from the state of Texas, per 247Sports’ composite rankings.
