Tyre'oune Holmes commits to MSU

Bulldogs offer under-the-radar Tylertown native Holmes, gain 19th commitment from the 5'10" 165 lb wide receiver.

5'10" 165 lb Tylertown, MS wide receiver Tyre'oune Holmes finally got the offer he had been wanting today. Dan Mullen and the Bulldogs gave Holmes what he had been working for for so long, and like many predicted he would, he jumped on the offer on the spot, committing to Mississippi State ($).

Holmes, who also holds offers from Alcorn State and Northwestern State according to Scout.com, is projected as a slot receiver on the SEC level. Dan Mullen worked Holmes out as a defensive back and wide receiver at camps this summer so both look to be a option for him at MSU. The Bulldogs have long flirted with Holmes (as I stated in various recruiting updates on FWtCT).

Lately it has been rumored that Hugh Freeze had been inquiring about Holmes. Holmes recently stated that if the Rebs offered, he would still wait on an MSU offer. The wait didn't take that much longer after that.

This could affect the Bulldogs taking another JUCO wide receiver, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out from here on out. That also could give a good indication of what position they intend on Holmes ending up playing.

Holmes is the 19th commitment of the class for the Bulldogs. He is rated a 2-star recruit by scout.com. He is subject to be moved up depending on if he ends up ranked as a defensive back or wide receiver.

Here's an interview with Holmes from this past summer with Fox 40 at the Medicomp Select 150 Combine:
