HISTORY: If you're like me, you could eat a juicy hamburger any day at any time. Mugshots fulfills that hunger need and desire perfectly. College buddies/owners Ron Savell and Chris McDonald opened Mugshots #1 in Hattiesburg in 2004. With help from friends, family, and others, Chris and Ron built the restaurants from the ground up. They eventually named many of their burgers, salads, and entrees after the people that carried them through their restaurant creation process. The dream of Mugshots actually originated in Hawaii while Ron and Chris traveled to Waikiki to work shortly after college.

MENU: First and foremost, you need to eat some form of hamburger if you have never been to this joint. The question is simply which gourmet burger will you devour? I strongly recommend three amazing choices: 1. McDonald (a beef patty with hickory smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, ranch, BBQ sauce, and the fixings), 2. Gamble (juicy patty with homemade chili, Rotel cheese, sour cream, jalapeños, and lettuce... the wifey's favorite), and 3. Come-back (seasoned patty with A-1 Sauce, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and tangy "come-back" sauce). Other burgers that are memorable include the Walker, Steak, Pepper Jack, Trevor's 1,000 Island Burger, and even the popular Anthony Peanut Butter burger (seasoned beef patty slathered with either crunchy or smooth peanut butter... yeah, it's actually very good). All burgers are served on toasted sourdough buns with beer battered fries that taste fantastic with leftover burger sauce and juices.

Other notable items on the menu include Davis' Dill Pickle chips, Spencer's nachos, quesadilla rolls, steak alfredo, buffalo parmesan, Crane sisters' salad, southwest chicken, Hick's chicken philly, and the Briscoe inferno. Make sure to find your favorite item by viewing their Starkville to-go menu here.

ULTIMATE GRINDAGE: The Mugshot. Allow me to just copy and paste what Mugshots says about this masterpiece:

"This monster is three seasoned patties piled high with 6 strips of bacon, cheddar and Swiss cheese, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, and red onion served with Brew City's beer battered fries, an onion ring, and a hand-battered pickle... finish the whole plate in 12 minutes or less and it's on us... if not, 20 bucks and a stomach ache... (not available for take-out)

AWARDS: They have won over 23 awards in Mississippi and Alabama for their burgers. Including five-straight Best Burger in Mississippi awards from Mississippi Magazine and seven-straight Best Burger awards by the Starkville Daily News. Like the quote on their website says... "There's a reason our burgers keep winning awards: they're the best around!" Indeed, Mugshots. Indeed.

Eat, Ring, and Be Merry.
