Mississippi State has moved up to number 11 in this week's BCS standings, released this evening. The move up follows States move to number 12 and number 13 in this week's Coaches' and AP polls, respectively.
This move up one spot meets exactly what was projected earlier by SBNation's BCS guru, Samuel Chi.
Moving up to number 11 is about on par with what I expected after this weekend. State's victory, although impressive, wouldn't garner much value due to our opponent, but still the Dogs continue to win and teams in front of us have lost, therefore we continue to climb.
It goes without saying that State will get its biggest chance of the season to jump in the polls this upcoming weekend, as the Bulldogs travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide.
State is one of six SEC teams ranked in the Top 15, joining (1) Alabama, (2) Florida, (6) LSU, (10) Georgia, and (13) South Carolina. Also of note, Kansas State has jumped the Oregon Ducks for the #3 position after a big win in Morgantown against the West Virginia Mountaineers.
