After a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Butler's Rotnei Clarke and a thrashing by North Carolina, Marquette and Mississippi State find themselves matched up today at 1:30.
After a tough 95-49 outing versus the No. 11 ranked Tar Heels less than 20 hours ago, the Bulldogs, with only eight players, look to rebound in their second-straight nationally televised game. Against North Carolina, MSU was led by Roquez Johnson with 12 points in 31 minutes of play. Johnson also finished with 1 steal, 1 block, and 7 rebounds. Wendell Lewis finished with 10 points, 2 blocks, and 6 rebounds. MSU shot a poorly 17-60 from the floor while UNC went 37-78. From the start of the game, the Bulldogs found themselves outmatched from every angle.
The Golden Eagles played an extremely balanced contest against Butler Monday afternoon in Maui. The game was tied five times and the lead changed 8 times. Marquette went 24-49 from the field, and was led by Vander Blue with 21 points in 37 minutes of play. Blue, a junior guard from Madison, Wisconsin, went 3-5 behind the arc and scored 15 points in the second half. Blue also took five more shots than any other Golden Eagle player. Others you will see in the MU mix will be Junior Cadougan, Trent Lockett, and Davante Gardner. Look for Marquette's stingy defense to outshine their offense under Coach Buzz Williams.
