You know the expression whether you win by 1 point or 70 points a win is still a win? Well we took that literal on Saturday as MSU pulled it off 21-20 against BGSU. To me we didn't want that game and did not play anywhere near the intensity we played against LSU. Sure it is only BGSU but the players need to be pumped up because if we lost that game, we were not going to a bowl game. There were a few things I had problems with besides the lack of focus/intensity that got us as close as we were to BGSU. First when Dak threw the int where there were 2 BGSU players around our receiver. It was a bad decision and needs to work harder. Second Devon Bell needs to start practicing kicking field goals from the side during this bye week. He needs confidence which I think he may be lacking and also to just practice. I understand missing long field goals but inside the 20? And finally our students left after halftime. I understand it is homecoming and that the students want to party. But we only had an 8 point lead at halftime and didn't score a second half point. But the students would not have changed the score.
Don't focus on this game statistically and just know that we got the job done: a win. And our bowl hopes are still alive so that is always good. We have a bye before another must win game. We host Kentucky on a Thursday ESPN game. Wildcats vs Bulldogs coverage It is winnable and if we want to play with focus and intensity we will win. And in my last post I posted a question about whether Kentucky is a rival even though I should have posted it here. Here is the link to that article: Do you consider Kentucky a rival?
And finally I have a poll I want all to answer on the bottom. I said last week that SC is the team I think we have the best shot. I still think that this week with A&M; next then Alabama.
Closing Thoughts: We can still make a bowl game. TSUN just lost to Texas A&M; so they are looking like their old selves again. And finally an over hyped Ole Miss team has the same record as MSU(3-3).
