The Mississippi State Bulldogs suffered their first loss on the hardwood, falling 87-68 to the Utah State Aggies in Logan, Utah.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs picked up another double double from sophomore forward Gavin Ware, but it was not enough as three Aggies, led by Preston Medlin's 21 points, reached double digits in Utah State's 87-68 win Saturday night in Logan, Utah.

A Jarred Shaw jumper put the Aggies up 2-0 to start the game, and Craig Sword answered to tie the game at 2-2.  Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Mississippi State would never get closer as the Aggies took the lead for good when Shaw hit another jumper at the 18:22 mark in the first half.

A Jacoby Davis three-pointer with a little over nine minutes to play in the first half pulled Mississippi State to within one point at 17-16, but the Aggies went on a run to push their lead to 41-28 at the half.  Utah State ran away after the break to secure the victory.

Colin Borchert (15), Craig Sword (11), and Dre Applewhite (10) in addition to Gavin Ware, who scored nineteen points, all reached double digits for Mississippi State.  In addition to Medlin, Shaw (17) and Spencer Butterfield (16) hit double figures for the Aggies.  Ware's ten rebounds led the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State (3-1) next faces Jackson State at the Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville in a Wednesday contest set to tip at 1pm.

The game is being billed as a Staff Appreciation game where all Mississippi State staff will gain free admission with their ID.
