The Weekend Recap

If you missed it over the weekend, here is the quick refresher.

Spruce Derden-USA TODAY Sports

Well, it turned out to be a pretty interesting weekend for the Bulldogs on the court and in the arena of recruiting.  We'll jump into it in a minute, but before we do, a quick, non-sports, related note.

Two former Mississippi State vet students who now work as veterinarians (duh) will run in the New Orleans Half Marathon this weekend to raise money to help fight pet over population on the coast.  It's a pretty big problem, and both have spent a large part of their careers trying to fight it.  If you would like to donate, you can do so by clicking here (Meg Sutton) or here (Jeni Knizley). I know both these ladies well, and I hope they both reach their fundraising goals.

On the recruiting front, what an ugly weekend.  Steve Robertson tweeted that Brandon Bryant took a visit to USM and all hell broke loose for half of Saturday.  At the end of the day, Bryant still wanted to be at MSU, so a lot of people wasted a lost of energy.  On Sunday, Ben Garrett tweeted that Sean Rawlings had decided to commit to Ole Miss (no real shock), and then again, people started losing their minds.  I'll have more on this later, but I feel really bad for people who cannot survive recruiting season without their heads exploding.  It's not worth it.

The Bulldogs lost in Oxford, and Rick Ray lost his cool with Marshall Henderson.  Props to Rick Ray for owning up and offering an apology.  He shouldn't have cussed him, but how many other coaches were glad that he did?
