Mississippi State 48 Texas A&M 31: Quick Hits

Quick thoughts on Mississippi State's victory over Texas A&M.

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

While many predicted Mississippi State to knock off Texas A&M Saturday in Starkville, very few saw the Bulldogs dominating the Aggies 48-31. Here are a few thoughts on the win.

1) I've been slow to beat the drums, but Dak Prescott is a legitimate Heisman contender. Week after week he has consistantly produced on the field. With a few more big games to go, he could find himself in New York.

2) MSU fans have to love the effort and play of the Mississippi State defense. They absolutely dominated the high-octane Aggies, and never let them look comfortable on the field.

3) The crowd absolutely brought it, especially for an 11am kick. Best atmosphere since 2000 and maybe ever in Starkville. The game day ops people were on point as well.

4) Think about this for a minute...the Bulldogs had not knocked off a top-25 team in a while going into the season, but in the last two weeks, they have a top-15 and top-10 win.

5) Top-Ten Mississippi State? It should happen Sunday, and it would be the first time since 1999. Great job Dan Mullen and team.

to the fan cussing Mullen behind me late in the game...Hush! Yes, the last 14 points were bad to give up, but A&M was just going for broke.
