New, 9 comments

Everyone knew that the Mississippi State Bulldogs would drop in the polls this week. Looking at the new AP Poll, how far did they drop, who is ranked above them, and who is the new No. 1 team in college football?

In another look at how voting bodies may feel about the college football landscape now that the Mississippi State Bulldogs area a one-loss team, the voters in the AP Poll have also decided that Florida State should once again hold the No. 1 ranking after Mississippi State lost 25-20 to Alabama Saturday in Tuscaloosa. They also decided that Mississippi State has a better team resume than one loss teams such as TCU and Baylor, as the Bulldogs finished at No. 4 in the rankings.

The Bulldogs have a chance to put up a strong showing as they face Vanderbilt this week before facing No. 8 Ole Miss to close the season. The matchup against Ole Miss will be the fifth such matchup the Bulldogs have faced this year, giving them a chance to hold four wins over top-25 teams by the end of the season.

The SEC saw the following teams find a home the top-25 rankings this week: No. 2 Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, No. 9 Georgia, No. 16 Auburn, and  No. 19 Missouri.
