It may have ended a round later than expected, but Gabe Jackson's journey from Mississippi State to the NFL has ended as the former Bulldog heard his name announced in New York City as the 3rd round draft, 81st overall, pick of the Oakland Raiders (post from Silver and Black Pride) in the 2014 NFL Draft

In Jackson, the Raiders pick up a player that won the C Spire Conerly Award as the best player in Mississippi in 2013.  What is more, Oakland picks up a player that did not give up a sack during his last two seasons with the Bulldogs. In those last two seasons, Jackson helped Mississippi State rack up record-setting offensive numbers.

The 6' 3", 336 pound offensive lineman has the ability to challenge for a starting position in his rookie season, and he could be a mainstay on the Oakland offensive line for years to come.

During his time in Starkville, Jackson made multiple All-American and All-SEC teams, and he finished as a finalist for the Outland and Lombardi Trophies.
