Mississippi State vs. LSU football game open thread

Come chat as we cheer on MSU against the LSU Tigers (Sat, 9/20, 6 p.m, ESPN).

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

There's a certain level of apathy one obtains when you are mired in a 14-game losing streak to another team. Long gone are the feelings of what a win against that team is like, and all you know is that with another year comes another L on the schedule. For Mississippi State, that voodoo-cursed annual date has been the LSU Tigers as of late, as the Tigers own a win in every game between the pair since 1999. The Bulldogs have played some close games and some not so close in the series, but despite a 1-point or 51-point margin, they've all been recorded the same: as a loss.

Will that streak of misery end THIS YEAR? It's the question we've asked ourselves as the LSU game comes upon us in the schedule for the past several seasons. This year certainly seems like as good a chance as any, so will the Bulldogs be able to go into Tiger Stadium and do what so many men before them could not? Bulldog fans certainly hope so. We need this streak to end. Because if it isn't today, when will it be? 5 years, 10 years down the road? Will we have to tell our grandchildren about the time we saw MSU beat LSU back "in the day"?

The good news is that all streaks inevitably come to an end, and today feels like a good day for streak ending. We tread cautiously with our optimism, but we support you, ye boys clad in maroon and white this evening, in your vigorous endeavors to free us from this bayou curse.
