Could 5-star DT Daron Payne be visiting Mississippi State this weekend?

Could another Alabama d-line commit be visiting just down the road on Highway 82 this weekend?

Student Sports

Mississippi State has recruited the state of Alabama hard this year, and that has paid dividends to the tune of seven current commits from our neighbor state.  While the Bulldogs have been very successful just across state lines, there are a few remaining targets that they wouldn't mind having as a part of the 2015 class, and one of those is Shades Valley star Daron Payne.

Daron Payne, for those who don't know, is a 6'2", 325 lb immensely talented defensive tackle prospect from Birmingham. MSU has been just one of a large number of suitors pursuing the big fella for some time now, though he calmed those efforts a bit by committing to Alabama in January at the Under Armor All-American Game.

Despite that commitment, could Payne be visiting just down the road in Starkville this weekend?

The tweet above from MSU freshman DT Braxton Hoyett certainly seems to indicate that he could be.

Even if he does visit, it's likely a "courtesy" visit as he seems 100% headed to Alabama. Payne, if he did come this weekend, would probably accompany MSU commit Keith Mixon, who is Payne's high school teammate and who is set to be in Starkville for sure starting tomorrow. I would compare his possible visit to that of Marlon Humphrey's last year -- definitely headed to Alabama, but visiting as a courtesy to the coaching staff and/or friends -- so there isn't too terribly much to get excited over even if he does make it to campus.

BUT, this is recruiting. Anything can happen, right?
