Mississippi State head coach John Cohen announced the 2016 baseball schedule for the Bulldogs today.
Similar to years past, Mississippi State will stay home at Dudy Noble Field for a large part of the non-confernece slate, including the Bulldogs' first 10 games. Mississippi State is also participating in the "Dodger Stadium Classic", played in Los Angeles, California. In that tournament, MSU will be playing UCLA in a rematch of the 2013 national title series, USC, and Oklahoma at Dodger Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Those games will be played March 4-6. After their time in LA, the Bulldogs will travel back to Starkville to round out their non-conference slate with six games, including a weekend series against Oregon.
Mississippi State starts their SEC play with a road series against 2014 national champion and defending national runners-up, Vanderbilt on March 18. Mississippi State's first home SEC series is against Georgia from March 24-26. The Bulldogs also host SEC foes Ole Miss, Texas A&M (Super Bulldog Weekend, April 15-17), Missouri, and Arkansas. Mississippi State travels to SEC schools Florida, LSU, Alabama, and Auburn, in addition to Vanderbilt.
34 of Mississippi State's 56 games are being played at Dudy Noble Field, 30 are against teams that made it to the NCAA Tournament in 2015, and there are four series against teams that made it to the 2015 College World Series.
Mississippi State's 2016 campaign will start Friday, February 19th against Florida Atlantic at 4:30 PM.
