Mississippi State's Dak Prescott wins Second C Spire Conerly Trophy
Mississippi State's Dak Prescott picked up his second C Spire Conerly Trophy Tuesday night in Jackson, making him the first player to pick up the award in back to back seasons.
The award, in its 20th year, is given annually to the best college football player in Mississippi.
Prescott led Mississippi State in passing (3143) and rushing (541) yards this season.
Prescott also led the SEC in several statistics based on play in conference games and against ranked teams.
In conference play, Prescott led the league in completions (226), completion percentage (67.1%), passing yards (2528), TD to Interception ratio (17:4), passing yards per game (316.2), and total offense (363.2).
When facing ranked teams, Prescott led the SEC in completions (87), completion percentage (63.5), passing yards (889) and yards per game (296.3).
Prescott captured his two awards after Mississippi State's Gabe Jackson won the award in 2013. With a Bulldog taking the award in three consecutive years, Mississippi State managed to do something no other school has done in the history of the award.
