Following a loss to Arkansas which saw a half with only nine points for MSU, the Bulldogs returned home to face one of the worst trending teams in the SEC Alabama. A I hate Alabama more than Ole Miss for numerous reasons but I will not get into that... The fact is Alabama has 3 players lost that are their best offensive threat making this absolutely the worst game in college Basketball in 2015 until MSU travels to Missouri Saturday. Do you know TURNOVER the problem TURNOVER with this team TURNOVER? Ill give you a hint it is TURNOVERSSSSS.... THere was a play where MSU literally threw the ball out of bounds... Its like this team tries lose. Missing Fts and NOT BEING ABLE TO FREAKING SCORE also hurts. Really strange how good MSUs defense is though. ALabama did everything they could to help MSU. MSU had 2 steals to make two layups in the last minute. However MSU cannot score and while Alabama wins even though this team is absolute Garbage and Anthony Grant will be fired even though I hope Alabama keeps him. But the main question is why I saw no crowd and that is ultimately why we lost, ANd it just shows that unless Ole Miss or Kentucky shows up at the Hump that no one cares. And allow me to blame it all on one player. One player that not only ruined a MSU team but has ruined the MSU program.
Renardo Sidney is the absolute overhyped lazy out of shape worst player MSU ever had. The entire MSU roster this year has players that are not only more offensively skilled but defensively skilled then this guy. I saw him in his first game at the Jackson Coliseum(back when we won there) and he was worst then the opposing players on theat nobody team in 2010 he was just flat out terrible. He showed no hustle and did not seem to care. He fought with another former MSU player in Hawaii later that year. Stansbury should have kicked him off and MSU basketball would not be where it is today. He would still be coach and we would be going to NCAA Tournaments. A lot of people wonder why the 2011-2012 team underperformed? It was his fault and a lot of people stopped watching MSU Basketball because not only did he contribute to Rick Stansbury to lose control of his players. And a loss to Georgia that started that losing streak(which state did win one or 2 more games after that loss in January) ended the regular season when Georgias ended MSUS NCAA Tournament hopes and basically Stansburys MSU Tenure. I know Stansbury did it to himself by not kicking him off but he did not do it because MSU finally had a top recruit by a recruiting website which was really busted but you the fans wanted top recruits. I think Football has taught us how much recruiting rankings matter so stop acting like they do. MSU Baskeball ended after MSU later that year went 7-0 going to Alabama as the #12 team. and later in that school year MSU Baseball made the CWS. This put any thought of basketball away it basically finished Renardo Sidneys job to ultimately end MSU Basketball. It didnt matter what coach went to Starkville because no one wanted the job. The way Sidney destroyed the program caused the roster to basically not exist. Which cause losses to teams like Alabama A&M and no one wants to watch a team lose. For those of you who give Renardo Sidney any credit of any kind I just wonder if you even watched MSU Basketball from 2010-2012. It was so good but he ruined it. But Stansbury did not Stop him.
Now all we can do is have a home win against Ole Miss and act like everything is well, WHat if that doesnt even happen this year? WHat if ater a loss to the worst SEC Team Missouri that no one even shows up to a weekday game against Ole Miss on ESPN. Yeah the game is on ESPN... (Not SEC Not U Not FSN but ESPN). If we get embarssed by Ole Miss will any MSU fan have even watched the game? THe whole country will see how bad the State of MSU Basketball. Friday the message boards will explode with people claiming to fire Ray without even watching the Ole Miss game because they lost to Ole Miss in a sport not that MSU basketball has been bad for the past 3 years(even though this is basically year 1 for Ray thanks to Sidney). I support Ray and he has earned another year irregardless of how the season ends. I know he likes defense bu he needs an assistant so they can practice offense.
SO this Friday Baseball starts and i like many other MSU fans will start to watch it early thanks to SEC Network + allowing me and others to succesfully ignore basketball season. If you watched the other night the 2004 Mississippi State at Alabama game was on. There were more State fans at that game in COleman than there were at the Hump on Tuesday, That is how far MSU Baskeball has gone downhill. The better question is will the conditions ever improve? Will MSU Basketball be back to a dynasty it once was when Bailey Howell was there? In 2009 Dan Mullen said in order to start winning it all begins with fan support. MSU had 0 fan support at the Hump Tuesday which ultimately led to MSU losing. If the Hump had a crowd that was loud and cheered Alabama like any other SEC Team not named Kentucky would have lost that night. Its just unfortunate that now we are school that only shows up for Ole Miss and Kentucky and I am now beginning to wonder how many fans will be at the hump for those games. Will Kentucky have more fans at the hump? Thats a sad question but as each crowd comes closer it only looks like that will be the reality of it. If Kentucky is the only MSU Basketball game you come to this year you are not a MSU Basketball Supporter. Your only there to see Kentucky. But as you can see I think we are used to Football and then baseball but if you care to turn Basketball Around You have to show up to the Hump to make that happen. WInning ecspecially in basketball starts with a crowd. We beat LSU and Tennessee without one which proves we deserve one. Show up to the Hump or see MSU get beaten by inferior competition just because you do not make the Hump a loud atmosphere.
I apologize for every grammar/spelling error but I wrote this in a rush after seeing so many MSU fans defend Renardo Sidney. I meant to write this earlier but the Alabama game urged me to write this piece about not only him but how it affects MSU Basketball today and what you can do to make MSU Basketball what it once was that is if you even care... And if you have any thoughts about my writing leave a comment I would love to see how the Bulldog Faithful feel about my writing. Share this with a friend or family to see how you feel about what has been stated.
Edit: I am currently reading through old articles about the last years of what MSU Basketball was. This shows the irony of how our problems then would be amazing achievements today. This is an article complaining about the 19th largest crowd in the Hump History on a Tuesday... Just think about that compared to the Alabama game...
