Softball Opening Weekend Forecast

The Bulldogs will take on four teams and try to get results as sunny as the forecast!

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

While the Lady Dawgs have a five game homestand this weekend in Starkvegas, the conditions in east-central Mississippi will be great for some pitching, batting and some cowbell ringing.

When the Bulldogs take on the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils on Opening Night, it'll be cooling down to about 35° by the time the ballgame is over. The ground will be nice and dry while in prime condition for some softball. Same story for Friday night when State takes on the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, except for one thing...it's going to be a lot warmer because we will see temperatures in the mid-40s on Friday night.

Sunny skies are in the dawgcast for the doubleheader on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs take on the St. Louis Billikens Saturday morning at 11:30 AM, and then battle the Austin Peay Governors at 2 PM. It'll be a great day for a set of games as skies will be blue and it will feel like Spring. Temperatures will be starting off for the doubleheader in the upper 40s and should warm up to low-to-mid 60s in the heart of the afternoon. Sunday's game will be the same story weather-wise but it may be a little cooler due to the contest's 12:30 PM start.

It will definitely be a great opening weekend for State's softball team and we hope to wrap it in Maroon and White.
