Craig Sword Named 2nd-Team All-SEC

Sword receives special conference honor for his contributions to Mississippi State after returning from an injury.

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

While his efforts, in my opinion, merit 1st-Team selection Craig Sword was named to 2nd-Team All-SEC today. He is joined by Alabama's Levi Randolph, Arkansas' Michael Qualls, Auburn's KT Harrell, Florida's Dorian Finney-Smith, Georgia's Marcus Thornton, Kentucky's Devin Booker and Aaron Harrison, and Texas A&M's Jalen Jones. Sword is the only Mississippi State player to be awarded with a postseason honor by the SEC.

Sword missed the first four games of the season due to an injury but returned with a vengeance scoring in double figures in 14 of MSU's remaining games. Sword, who is arguably playing his best basketball of the season, averaged 11 points per game and that average has only been steadily increasing in recent weeks. Sword's season high came in a game against rival Ole Miss in which he scored 27 points. Sword would top 20 points four other times this season including 26 points in the road win against Tennessee.

Congrats Craig Sword!
