MSU women's hoops finished the 2015 regular season and SEC tournament with a 26-6 record and a #12 ranking in the AP top 25. Monday night the team learned that their hard work had earned them a bid to the NCAA tournament where they will be a #5 seed and will play Tulane in Durham, NC on Friday at 2:30 PM on ESPN2.
This is only the 7th trip to the tourney in the team's history, their best finish in the Big Dance came in 2010 when the Bulldogs advanced to the Sweet 16. The 2015 team holds the records for most overall wins in a season with 26 and most SEC conference victories in a season with 11.
The squad averaged a crowd of 3,755 for every game in the Hump and even brought in the largest crowd ever for a MSU women's basketball game, when 7,326 fans saw the ladies vanquish Ole Miss on March 1st.
If you have not followed the Lady Bulldogs this year, now is a great time to start. They're led by freshman forward Victoria Vivians, who was the top scorer in the SEC in 2015 with 15.1 points per game and was named the best women's basketball player in the state of Mississippi last week, freshman point guard Morgan William, who finished 4th in the SEC in assists this season, and senior center Martha Alwal, who is the SEC's active career leader in blocks with 318.
