Diamond Dawgs Upend #1 Texas A&M 3-2

MSU toppled the top ranked Aggies on Saturday afternoon on the back of a quality pitching performance from Preston Brown.

Mississippi State University

Mississippi State handed Texas A&M only its third loss of the season with a 3-2 victory on Saturday. It was the Bulldogs first win over a top ranked team during the regular season since 2004.

Preston Brown (5-3) pitched seven innings, giving up only one run, eight hits, and walking two. Brown also accounted for two strikeouts. Levi Mintz relieved Brown but gave up a homer in the eighth inning and was replaced by Trevor Fitts who struck out another four batters and sealed the win for MSU and earned his sixth save of the year.

Cody Brown had his first home run of 2015 in the third inning. Jacob Robson and Wes Rea also scored on RBI's from John Holland and Michael Smith, respectively. The Aggies had nine total hits while MSU only had seven hits, but it was just enough offense for the Bulldogs to win a tight one in College Station.

MSU will try to seal its second straight SEC series tomorrow at 1:05 PM CST. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
