Speculation: Mississippi State Bulldogs to Participate in Basketball's Battle 4 Atlantis in 2017?

Could Mississippi State be participating in the 2017 Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament?

Jeff Blake-USA TODAY Sports

When looking towards the future of a program, fans look for the slightest, smallest clues in trying to figure out what will happen with fans, coaches, players and schedules.  Thanks to our friends over at Backing The Pack and VUhoops, Mississippi State fans might have an idea of some of what is in store for the 2017-2018 basketball season. Based off of a screen shot on a white board of North Carolina State's Director of Basketball Operations Jeff Dunlap, the North Carolina State SB Nation site has started talk that the Bulldogs could be headed to one of the lucrative early season tournament, The Battle 4 Atlantis.

The Bulldogs played in the tournament, staged in the Bahamas, in the 2010-2011 season.

While the Bulldogs have struggled the past few years, there is no denying the fact that the arrival of Ben Howland and his recruitment of top stars have quickly upped the profile of the Bulldogs.

While trying to predict a schedule two years out is quite tricky, Mississippi State did not randomly pop up on Dunlap's board by chance for a video.  Lots could change between now and the tournament, but one could at least concede there is talk about the Bulldogs playing in the tournament.  It will be interesting to see if it plays out the way it seems right now.

VUhoops has also jumped on this train and has a close up of the screenshot.
