Fornelli: Mississippi State One of the Most Disrespected Programs in College Football

It looks like someone is willing to mention the fact that Mississippi State is not getting the credit it deserves for 2014.

While a favorite past time of many has been to talk about how overhyped the SEC and its teams are, CBSSports.com's Tom Fornelli listed Mississippi State and Missouri as two of the five most disrespected programs in college football.

In talking about the Bulldogs, Fornelli mentioned "recency bias."  While he stops short of saying that Mississippi State is a historically undervalued program, he says that in terms of heading into the 2015, Mississippi State has not received the credit it deserves.

"This year the Bulldogs have their Heisman candidate quarterback Dak Prescott returning. So where were they picked to finish in the SEC West by the media at SEC Media Days? In last, of course."--Tom Fornelli

On the face of it, it is hard to believe that so many people have picked the Bulldogs to finish seventh in the SEC West.  One has to wonder how many teams have had a returning, vote-receiving, first-team all conference quarterback and still picked last for any division or conference.

The beauty of college football is that just like last season, Mississippi State will have every opportunity to prove their worth as the season progresses.

In addition to Missouri, the team Fornelli found the most disrespected, the other teams included Kansas State, Georgia Tech and BYU.

Hard to believe the two teams that faced off in last year's Orange Bowl both made the list, but there they are, and rightly so.
