Mississippi State middle linebacker Richie Brown has been named the conference's top defensive player of the week after a 13 tackle performance against Auburn. Brown also tallied three tackles for loss and two sacks in holding the Tigers out of the end zone for the first time under head coach Gus Malzahn. Brown's 12 solo tackles tied him for the most by one player in an SEC game this season. He has led the Bulldogs in tackles in three of the four games played. The only exception was last week against Northwestern State when he saw limited playing time.
