Mississippi State Football Recruiting: Recapping the Latest Offers, Late 2016 Addition?

Just as we all expected, new targets have emerged already for the Class of 2017, and the extensive list of offers given out this past week are a perfect example of that.

Joshua Lindsey-USA TODAY Sports

With the off-season now in full swing, and NSD nearly two weeks behind us, the Class of 2017 is in full swing, and this past weekend was a big one in Starkville. From already known big-time targets, to new names emerging forty-nine weeks from signing day (shocking, right?) this list will continue to grow and change as commitments happen, All information is from 247Sports unless noted otherwise. Let's start with some news of a late 2016 Official Visit this past weekend.

Mykelle McDaniel, a 3-star defensive end from Grayson HS in Loganville, GA, officially visited this past weekend, and has more visits on deck prior to making a final decision. The variable that prevented him from signing on national signing day was awaiting the result of his ACT, according to Paul Jones and 247Sports ($) In the same article Jones states that he is also looking to officially visit Alabama and South Carolina in the coming days. Coach Sirmon is the primary contact here.

This past week, it came to my attention that 4-Star QB and current verbal commitment Keytaon Thompson will be graduating early from his high school in Louisiana, and enrolling with the Bulldogs in January. This is huge for the class of 2017, and him and Emanuel Dabney have been recruiting hard to help the Bulldogs land another top class.

Now, a quick look at each of the players who were offered by the staff this past week (arranged in alphabetical order)

ILB Kenney Britt from Oxford, AL

CB Justin Broiles from Oklahoma City, OK

OLB Bryce Brand from Detroit, MI (Attends IMG Academy)

OLB/ RB Daniel Carter from Fort Lauderdale, FL (2019)

DT Robert Cooper from Snellville, GA (2018)

CB Meshael Custis from Hampton, GA

ATH Parker Guest from Starkville, MS

WR KJ Hamler from Farmington, MI

WR Xavier Jenkins from Valdosta, GA

OLB Thomas Johnston from Spanish Fort, AL

WR Omar Manning from Lancaster. TX

Chase Monroe from Davidson, NC

WR Elijah Moore from Fort Lauderdale, FL (2018)

WR Mannie Netherly from Crosby, TX

OLB Owen Pappoe from Loganville, GA

WR Charleston Rambo from Cedar Hill, TX

ILB Monty Rice from Madison, AL

ILB Malik Robinson from Snellville, GA

OG Sebastian Sainterling from Hallandale, FL (2018)

OT Jason Swann from Pembroke Pines, FL

CB AJ Terrell from Westlake, GA

APB Craig Williams from Crosby, TX (2018)

As you can see by taking a deeper look into the recent offers, the states of Texas and Georgia have been focused on very strongly compared to years past, and it would not shock me to see this revamped coaching staff begin to build a strong pipeline in these two talent-rich states. Look for more of these on a weekly basis, as well as any new commitments/targets for Dan Mullen and his staff.
