Shortly after two assistants, Nick Mingione and Wes Johnson, left for new jobs, Mississippi State has hired their replacements.

Replacing Johnson as pitching coach will be Gary Henderson, former Kentucky head coach. Henderson spent eight seasons as the skipper in Lexington, 2009-2016, replacing John Cohen. In his eight years, Henderson complied a 258-199 record, making the NCAA Tournament twice, in 2012 and 2014. Henderson was UK's pitching coach from 2003-2008 under John Cohen. During his time as an assistant, the Wildcats won the 2006 SEC Championship.

Replacing Mingione as recruiting coordinator will be Will Coggin, Mississippi State's coordinator of camps. Coggin has been MSU's coordinator of camps since August 2015. He was also on John Cohen's staff in Starkville from 2009-2012 and was a former player for the Bulldogs as an infielder from 2007-2008. Nick Mingione, who Coggin is replacing, was promoted from coordinator of camps to recruiting coordinator during his time in Starkville as well.
