Earlier in the week, Mississippi State baseball coach John Cohen made the decision to lead off the Starkville Regional with his Bulldogs facing Southeast Missouri State in the 1:30 game Friday afternoon. The decision, while not necessarily fan friendly, has already benefited Mississippi State as the Bulldogs completed their game one victory Friday while third-seeded Louisiana Tech and second-seeded Cal State-Fullerton will have to resume their rain interrupted game Saturday.
Mississippi State announced that the game between Louisiana Tech and Cal State Fullerton will resume at 10am Saturday. Gates opened at 9am, and no tickets are required to go to the contest.
Cal State Fullerton had one out in the bottom of the seventh when the game was suspended. Neither team had a run cross the plate Friday night.
At 1:30pm, the loser of game two will face Southeast Missouri State in an elimination game.
Mississippi State awaits the winner of the Cal St Fullerton and Louisiana Tech matchup in a 6:30pm contest.
Here's the current hourly forecast for Starkville, courtesy of the Weather Channel.
Let's hope that forecast holds and the regional can continue uninterrupted.
