Mississippi State will face the task of defeating every team in its regional if they want to advance to the super regionals as they square off against Louisiana Tech in a 6:30 contest.
Mississippi State has won its first two games in Starkville, coming from behind to defeat Southeast Missouri State in the opening contest of the regional and knocking off Cal State Fullerton 4-1 in the winners' bracket contest Saturday night.
Cal State Fullerton knocked off Louisiana Tech in a 1-0 victory played over two days in the teams' first contest of the tournament. That loss forced Louisiana Tech to battle through the elimination bracket where they defeated Southeast Missouri State 9-5 to earn a second shot at Cal State Fullerton.
Louisiana Tech took that contest 6-2.
Mississippi State needs just one victory, while Louisiana Tech would need two straight wins over Mississippi State, to advance to the super regionals, where they will host the winner of the Lafayette Bracket. The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns currently sit in the driver's seat as they are undefeated, and will face the winner of the Sam Houston State-Arizona matchup in the elimination bracket. Louisiana defeated Arizona in the winner's bracket game Sunday.
Arizona and Sam Houston State will square off Sunday night, with the championship to be played on Monday.
