Mississippi State is in search for their 2018 QB and it looks like they may earn a commitment from a highly talented signal caller soon.

According to the 247Sports Crystal Ball, many experts in the recruiting industry are pegging 4-star Sachse (TX) High School QB Jalen Mayden to Mississippi State.

Mayden is regarded very highly in the recruiting world. The Texas native is rated as the 11th best dual-threat QB in the nation per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. In addition, Mayden is also ranked as the 11th best player at his position in Rivals’ system and the 12th best in ESPN’s rankings.

Earlier this month, Rivals recruiting analyst Woody Wommack reported that the star QB released his top 3. Per Wommack, Mayden included Mississippi State, Louisville, and Tennessee. Mississippi State has quickly made the Sachse High School signal caller their priority in the position and Wommack wrote on April 14th that State was in the driver’s seat:

Rivals Reaction: Mayden has a clear top three and right now it seems as if the two SEC programs have the edge. Coming off of his visit to Mississippi State it’s clear the Bulldogs have the momentum but that could change if he does indeed make a visit to Tennessee for the Vols spring game.

He ended up making the trip to Knoxville this past weekend, but the Vols gained a commitment from Tampa 3-star QB Michael Penix.

Mississippi State has been gaining traction for their QB of the 2018 class, but Sunday evening saw more momentum as 5 experts tabbed Mayden to Mississippi State, including analysts that cover LSU and Ohio State.

Mayden will make his commitment on May 23 at his spring game.
