WATCH: Nick Fitzgerald Practices in Full Pads

Nick Fitzgerald looks up to par as spring practice is now in full swing

On Saturday, March 24, 2018 Joe Moorhead held his first spring practice open to the public at Mississippi State. This will be Joe Moorhead’s first spring with his new team. One of the biggest question marks heading into next football season is QB Nick Fitzgerald and will he be back to 100% come fall?

I actually attended spring practice and had the privilege to take some up close videos of QB, Nick Fitzgerald. The practice itself was great in terms of intensity and intelligent drills. The team began by doing some simple stretches. During stretches Nick seemed perfectly fine... maybe some minor setbacks but nothing he can’t fight through.

Quarterbacks coach, Andrew Breiner had Fitzgerald along with Keytaon Thompson and all of the other quarterbacks doing some key quarterback drills on Saturday.

There were few plays released during the open practice (no surprise there knowing how tricky Moorhead’s offense can be), but I was able to capture this throw by Nick Fitzgerald in what looks like a simple read option throw to the outside receiver.

All in all, Nick Fitzgerald looked back to normal. He seemed to trust all of the tape wrapped around his right ankle as he nearly looked 100% in my eyes. Fitzgerald may still be breaking off some rust after being bedridden for a few months, but nothing Coach Moorhead and his staff can’t fix.

The spring game will take place on April 21 at 3 pm CT. Come check out how Nick Fitzgerald is doing and how Joe Moorhead has taken the reigns of this team.
