Mississippi State women’s basketball strikes again, as the rich keep getting richer, inking Texas A&M graduate transfer Anriel Howard. The star Aggie brings leadership and experience to a Bulldog squad ready to make yet another run at the championship. Having suffered two straight heartbreaking losses in the final, Howard may be the key piece to put Mississippi State over the top.

Immediately eligible, Howard will be ready. Famous for ruling the paint and regarded as one of the game’s ultimate rebounders, she was second in the SEC only to Bulldog superstar and perhaps the nation’s best overall, Teaira McCowan. Can you say one-two punch?

Crashing the boards will not be a problem. McCowan and Howard are not only experienced, but know how and when to make the right plays. Schaefer is a defensive mastermind and Howard’s addition makes Mississippi State the game’s best on that end of the floor. He is about toughness and Howard has it, as she is afraid of nothing and will take anybody.

A walking double-double, she averaged 11.9 points and 12 points per game this past season. Though she is projected to start alongside McCowan, Howard is more than capable of holding her own. The two are interchangeable and will take over game after game.

Already with talent and depth, Howard’s arrival elevates the Bulldogs into a whole other stratosphere. Humphrey Coliseum “The Hump” will be rocking and is sure to sell out. This is great for the Bulldogs and even better for the game, as an illustrious team is set to become a cornerstone franchise.
