What to Watch For

Teaira McCowan on the boards

While McCowan can score in the paint at will, she will have to dominate the boards and post a double double in order for the Bulldogs to come out with a win. She is clearly the best big in the country and will undoubtedly give the Gamecocks headaches down low. Coming off a 22 point 10 rebound performance at Auburn, McCowan should have over both tonight. Her season highs include 24 points, 22 rebounds, and seven blocks.

Jordan Danberry and Jazzmun Holmes on defense

Both seniors, Danberry and Holmes have proven to be reliable on both ends of the floor, primarily on defense. That said, Danberry’s season high 26 point performance speaks for her ability as a scorer. Look for her to post at least 15 tonight. Holmes, who has become the leader of the offense, should be a force and make a big play late.

Each will have their share of opportunities. However, Holmes’ command of the offense coupled with Danberry’s scoring ability has developed into a lethal tandem. While neither are sniper’s from three, expect both to fill the stat line.

Chloe Bibby as a shooter

Bibby, who has made her name offensively as of late, has scored in double figures the last four games. Her most notable performance was in a win over Georgia, in which she put up a season high of 24 points. Look for Bibby to show up along the perimeter and in the paint as a scorer. The sophomore forward has become more comfortable in her role as a starter, as Bibby should have a game under the bright lights.

Prediction

Mississippi State will win a close back and forth battle 77-73.
