In the world of college football, recruiting is the lifeblood of the business. The Mississippi State Bulldogs currently have a top-20 recruiting class, according to ESPN, and are looking forward to a big signing day on Dec. 18. We will look at some of the recruits that the Bulldogs must hang on to in order to continue to build in the Joe Moorhead era.

The key piece to the 2020 recruiting class for Bulldogs fans, as well as Moorhead, is Georgia running back Jo’Quavious Marks. Marks has put up impressive numbers over the past two seasons. Marks rushed for 1,378 yards during his senior year and had an excellent junior season as well, rushing for 1,500 yards. Marks’ productivity has not gone unnoticed, and the interest from most of the major programs in college football has poured in. However, Marks has remained a solid commit to Moorhead and the Bulldogs after recruiting visits to Wisconsin and Louisville. The official visit over the weekend of Dec. 6 will be huge for the Bulldogs as they look to keep the highest-rated commit in the class of 2020.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Bulldogs are looking to an in-state product in Grenada’s Emmanuel Forbes to make plays in the secondary for the Bulldogs next season. Forbes has lined up all over the field for Grenada and has the hands and quickness to be a playmaker on the offensive side of the ball, even though the Bulldogs are recruiting him to be a lockdown cornerback on the defensive side of the ball. What Mississippi State fans will like the most about Forbes is that he will not shy away from contact. Forbes is an intriguing player to watch from a recruiting standpoint because he may hold off until February to pick a school.

Securing both Marks and Forbes for the 2020 season will help keep the momentum rolling after the Egg Bowl victory over Ole Miss. Recruiting is a continuous business and fans should look for plenty of activity leading up to signing day on Dec. 18. The 2020 class has the potential to be a solid one for the Bulldogs, but the staff must continue to put forth effort and finish the job. Plenty of time remains in the recruiting season, enjoy the ride, guys.
