No. 10 Mississippi State vs Southern Miss Women’s Basketball Preview

The Bulldogs play host to the Golden Eagles, as it will be an in-state showdown in Starkville.

Broadcast Information

The game is at 2 p.m. CT and can be watched on the SEC Network.

What to Watch For

Andra Espinoza-Hunter from distance

As she is one of the game’s best 3-point shooters, Espinoza-Hunter has picked up right where she left off. Against Lubbock Christian, she shot 3-of-5 from 3-point range. If able to get on a streak early, Espinoza-Hunter’s range will be a problem for the Golden Eagles.

Having attempted 161 3-pointers in her sophomore season, look for that number to increase. Espinoza-Hunter is a focal point for the Bulldogs offensively, as head coach Vic Schaefer should call her number frequently throughout tomorrow’s matchup.

Jessika Carter in the paint

The Bulldogs may have found their new centerpiece in the middle, as Carter is fresh off a double-double with 27 points and 13 boards. Carter will have to deal with Amber Landing and/or Starkville-native Kelsey Jones. In either scenario, Carter should have her way. Expect Carter to post respectable numbers and have an immediate impact.

At 6-foot-5, Carter has the length to be a factor and crash the boards. In addition, look for Carter to post a few blocks and draw multiple fouls.

Prediction

Mississippi State wins 84-59
